We have moved very rapidly into a technology driven, globalised, Knowledge Age. For students today, the world is their stage and they have a universe of opportunities. Whereas a few decades ago there were about 10 broad career avenues- today there are over 2000 career options from Financial Engineering, Biometrics, Fashion, Space, Energy Technology, Cyber Law to Management of the Arts, Leisure Management, Forensic Accounting etc. Most careers can be accessed from any subject stream or combinations. In fact, we must prepare for careers that don’t even exist today!
All this requires us to move beyond stereotypes and focus on developing our core academic strengths and aptitudes while becoming aware of our key interests and talents.
