    The admission process for Delhi University’s undergraduate courses for the academic session has begun. A few changes have been introduced in the admission policy this year. The most significant one is that the varsity has discontinued the process of pre-admission registration (both at college and university level) before the release of the first cutoff list on June 15 for general and OBC candidates.

    • Colleges may start online registration but it will be purely optional. No candidate can be denied admission if he is eligible but hasn’t registered online. College cannot charge for online registration.
    • Admission are not on first –come, first serve basis. All candidates who meet the cutoff and eligibility criteria will get admission.
    • Besides tele-helplines, DU will have a Facebook page for handling queries. Option for web chat will also be available on DU website.
    • For admission through ECA and sports quota, candidates have to apply through individual college forms after the second cutoff list. College will hold their own trials.
    • Under sports quota, 75% weightage will be given to certificates and 25% to the performance in trials.
    • There is no minimum age bar to admission to the first year in undergraduate courses except in some professional courses.
    • St. Stephen’s College has a separate admission process. Application forms will be available till June 13.
    • Candidates will have to appear for CATE for admission to BA (honours) English in 21 colleges. Forms are available till May 28.
    • Candidates have to contact individual colleges for applying to professional courses such as journalism, BMMMC, biomedical science and home science.
    • For hostel facility, contact the college. Admission in a college does not ensure admission in the hostel. Allocation of rooms is based on merit and is allowed only for outstation candidates.
    • SC/ST candidates require two self-attested photocopies of their caste certificate, a self-attested photocopy and certificate of classes X and XII (provisional) and two photographs.
