At present there are two million students studying in Russian institutes of higher learning. Russian medical degrees have global recognition and have topped the WHO and UNESCO rankings. An MD (Doctor of Medicine) from a Russian University is now recognized as equivalent to an MBBS in India by the Medical Council of India. Students completing their medical studies from Russia will have to qualify the screening test conducted by MCI to start their practice in India.
