What is Modelling ?
Fashion Modelling centres around clothing design and manufacture, which can be broadly classified into three main sections namely, haute couture, wholesale couture and wholesale manufacturing. Haute couture fashion produces collections of exclusively designed “model garments”. Wholesale couture garments are sold in limited numbers through selected retail outlets. Some modeling takes place in this area. Wholesale manufacture of mass produced goods is by far the largest sector, following fashion trends in the haute couture section. Not much modeling is done in this area.
Only one or two copies of each garment are made almost entirely by hand. Regular shows are held which are attended by media persons, wealthy customers and buyers from exclusive shops. Most haute couture houses are owned and run by well-known designers. Top models like Madhu Sapre, Antra Mali, Aditi Govitrikar, Vikram Saluja, Milind Soman, are selected to model these garments.
