Malaysia is fast emerging as an educational destination of international quality, a major force to reckon with in South East Asia. Strengthened by a rapidly developing economy, the country has channelised the bulk of its resources towards the development of higher education especially technological education. To develop world-class quality education and meet the demands and requirements of the new millennium, as well as to affirm the position of English as a second language, the Government of Malaysia has initiated major educational reforms by formulating new legislations on education.
In Malaysia there are ten local public universities, one international university, six private universities and over 500 Public Higher Educational Institutions (PHEIs) providing undergraduate and postgraduate studies. PHEIs are non-government aided institutions that are fully funded by the private sector.
Academic Year: There are two intakes in a year – in January and in June. The exception is Architecture, where there is only one intake in March/April.
Entry requirements for international student is equivalent to an ‘O’ level qualification or completion of secondary high school education.
